Has your country completed a sustainable development review?
Sudan created a National Comprehensive Strategy (NCS--1992-2002). The NCS provided policy directives to implement sustainability issues in development activities. Following the issuance of the NCS, a number of sectoral strategies were formulated in the fields of agriculture, water, biodiversity, forestry, climate change, and others.
Is your country planning on announcing new initiatives at Rio?
Sudan has begun initiatives in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), which are supported at both federal and state levels.
Sudan is formulating a new 25-year National Sustainable Development Strategy to target poverty reduction, rational use of natural resources, and improving biodiversity.
What is your vision for success at Rio+20?
There are numerous untapped opportunities for action on climate change. It is important to begin drawing international support on financing, infrastructure and capacity building.
