South Africa conducted a review in 2002 and they have continued reviews on shortfalls in the implementation of sustainable development.
Is your country planning on announcing new initiatives at Rio?
South Africa has numerous sustainable development initiatives in water and energy happening at the community and local government levels – there is critical need to develop renewable sources to shift energy mix from heavy coal dependence.
South Africa also has an active private sector partnership on several sustainable development initiatives.
What is your vision for success at Rio+20?
South Africa believes that the Rio+20 Green Economy theme should generate jobs along with integrate social equity into all improving sustainable development.
